Pipilika Uthsab, a daylong programme in promotion of the first ever internet search engine in the country, www.pipilika.com. was held on the
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology campus on Monday.
GPIT, information technology section of mobile phone operator Grameenphone, took the initiative to make popular the search engine and the Integrated Marketing Service Limited, a Dhaka-based advertising firm, arranged the festival on the university campus as the event manager.
Free-browsing facility for the visitors and a quiz competition, open to all and having prizes with the Pipilika’s logo, were among the daylong programmes held at Arzuntala on the campus.
Talking to New Age, IMSL key account officer Iftekhar Chowdhury said the campaign to popularise Pipilika among the internet browsers would also be held soon at Dhaka University and North-South University.
A group of the computer science and engineering students of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, in association with GPIT, has prepared the first-ever Bangla Language-based search engine Pipilika that was formally launched on April 13.
SUST computer science and engineering professor Muhammad Zafar Iqbal has worked as director while its assistant professor Ruhul Amin Sajib as team leader of the project.
