4-party has edge over 14-party in popularity

All 28 candidates of six constituencies in Rajshahi district are now spending extremely busy time in campaigning for the upcoming parliamentary election. All of them are now sparing all their available time to communicate with the voters. The quiet city Rajshahi has now turned into a very jolly city as the candidates are campaigning from the dawn to late night through microphones and by holding meetings and by making a door to door communication. The city is now decorated with the leaflets and posters of the candidates.
Five candidates among 28 are competing for the Rajshahi-2 (sadar) seat. Among them, Four- party alliance nominee Mizanur Rahman Minu started a massive communication with the people of Saheb Bazar Zero Point, Kapor patti, Vangri potti and Sonadighir more area from Sunday last. He requested people to vote for his symbol Dhaner sish( sheaf of paddy). Local leaders and activists of 14-party alliance have decided to work together for Fazley Hossain Badsha, the nominee of 14-party for Rajshahi sadar area. The party leaders have also formed an election conducting committee for running the works of election. Badsha has already started to communicate with the people of Court area along with other areas and requested the people to vote for his symbol ‘Nouka’ (Boat). Nominee from Bikalpo Dhara Akhtaruzaman Bablu last communicated with the people of Upashahar, New Market and Stadium areas. He is trying to collect votes for his symbol ‘Kula’.
Three candidates are competing for the Rajshahi-1(Tanor-Godagari) seat. Among them, the 4-party alliance nominee Dr. Enamul Haq has started communicating with the people of Kakon Hat, Zia Para, Keora Para and Sundorpur of Godagari upazila. He is requesting the people to vote for Dhaner shish (Sheaf of Paddy) to strengthen Khaleda Zia’s hand and for accelerating her party activities.
The other candidates of this seat are grand alliance candidate Umar Farukh Chowdhury who has started his poll campaigning from Go gram, Matikata and Daopara unions of Godagari upazila. He is requesting people to vote for his boat symbol.
Four candidates are competing for Rajshahi-3 (Paba-Mohonpur) seat. Among them, Ataur Rahman, Ameer of City Jamaat-e-Islami has started campaigning with the people of Kesor hat, Ghasi gram and Zahanabad areas. He trying to convince them to vote for his symbol “Dari Palla” (Balance). The former Vice-president of grand alliance Meraz Uddin Mollah last communicated with the people of various areas of Paba and Mohonpur. He is trying to convince people to vote for his symbol ‘Boat’. Advocate Kabir Hossain, former MP and nominee of BNP has started to communicate with the people of Kesorhat and Ghasigram area. He is requesting people to vote for her symbol ‘Sheaf of Paddy’. Many people think, there will be tripartite competition at this constituency. Though, four party candidate Advocate Kabir Hossain is a candidate there, Ataur Rahman is also campaigning here as Jamaat-e-Islami candidate. As a result of such misunderstanding, both Kabir Hossain and Ataur Rahman might be looser while AL candidate Meraz Mollah may triumph.
Four candidates are competing for the seat of Rajshahi-6 (Bagha-Charght). Among them, four party alliance nominee district president Azizur Rahman was seen busy communicating with the people of various areas of Bagha.
Among other competitors, nominee of grand alliance Shahriar Alam was also working for convincing people of Arani and Dakra to vote for his symbol ‘boat’. The nominees of other two constituencies Bagmara (Rajshahi-5) and Puthia-Durgapur (Rajshahi-4) in Rajshahi are also communicating with the people of their areas.Independent observers are of the view that the 4-party alliance has edge over the 14-party alliance in popularity and are expected to win at least four seats out of six in Rajshahi district.
