Noted actors, singers and models will represent Bangladesh as cricketers in the upcoming T20 cricket tournament, with participation of celebrities from South Asian countries, to be held in Sri Lanka next October.
The tournament titled ‘T20 Love for Cricket’ will be participated by India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, with teams made with celebrities from the respective countries. Vasavi Celebrity Cricket Club is the sponsor of the Bangladeshi team.
From Bangladesh, distinguished model Nobel along with Nirab, Emon and Aleef, singers including Tahsan, Shuvro Dev, SD Rubel, Asif Akbar, Arefin Rumee, and television actors Mir Sabbir, Anisul Haque Milan, Apurba, and many others, are doing rigorous practice for the tournament.
The team members are now passing busy days practicing cricket, along with their regular tasks. They start practice early in the morning at 7:00am at Gulshan Youth Club playground on a regular basis.
Their ability, however, will be tested before the tournament in a friendly match against the Indian superstars in Dhaka. Bollywood artistes Salman Khan, Sohel Khan, Hritesh Deshmukh, Aftab, Jit are expected to represent India in the match.
Nobel will lead the team as the captain, with former coach of Bangladesh National Team Osman Khan as the instructor. Only the best performers, proven as the best players throughout the practice, will participate in the tournament.
In describing his feelings about the tournament, Nobel told New Age, ‘I am honoured and thrilled for being selected as the captain, though it often becomes tough for me to sort out time for practice. Still I, along with other members of the team, am really committed and trying our level best to prepare ourselves for the tournament.’
About the practice, team manager Nader Chowdhury, who is also a talented actor, told New Age, ‘the teammates have taken the tournament really seriously and doing rigorous practice in full swing.’ ‘We will try our best, to brighten the image of our country to the world through cricket’ added

About the tournament singer Tahsan told New Age, ‘We are looking forward the tournament and doing really hard work. At first, it was difficult to get up early in the morning and do all the fitness exercises; however, we are doing better with time. And another interesting thing is that we aren’t treated as celebrities but as mere learners. So all together it’s a whole new experience and we are enjoying it.’
