Famous singer Chandana Majumdar has recorded the vital song of the film Phelani, which is based on the tragic death of an
innocent girl on the border with India.
Chandan’s song titled Aj amar koto rong dhong sukh sokhigo belongs to the traditional marriage genre, though the film features how brutally Phelani was killed by Indian Border Security Force on January 07 in 2011 while returning home.
‘Her family set her marriage for which she was returning home along with her father from their workstation in India. We have personified her death as her marriage with eternity in the film. Which is why a traditional nuptial song has been selected to portray her death,’ director of the film Yusuf Chowdhury told New Age.
‘The song will be a backdrop one. It will be used when Phelani’s dead body will be shown hung on the barbed wire,’ added the director claiming his film is an artistic expression against border killing.
Golam Rabbani has written the screenplay. Mamun Mijanur Rahman has penned the song, and Masum has set the lyric to tune.
‘The song lyric of the song appears as a marriage song, the tune follows the traditional sentimental genre. I hope the people will like it,’ singer Chandana Majumder told New Age.
The film is expected to be released on the third death anniversary of Phelani, which falls on January 07.
