Evergreen Tagore songs once again entertained a packed audience at a programme at Chhayanaut on Thursday evening. Even the gloomy and humid weather could not thin down the crowd on the evening who took a nostalgic trip with the Tagore songs that never get old. The event was arranged by Chhayanaut to celebrate the legend’s 153rd birth anniversary.
The transcendental quality of Tagore songs invoked the audience to find a sense of oneness with the imageries that the poet’s words depicted. Perhaps, it is this unique quality of Tagore songs that has made the genre to not only survive but reign for over a century.
The group dances with chorus renditions of Tagore songs was a pleasant experience for the audience. A splendid moment was created as Tomar Anando Oi Elo Daare was rendered by singers of Chhayanaut in chorus while the dancers of the same organisation danced to the song. The dances were well-coordinated and provided a charismatic visual appeal in their bright orange costumes
Chorus recitals were not the only attraction of the show. Solo presentation of Tagore songs by noted and promising artistes were widely acclaimed by the audience. Ashim Dutta, Iffat Ara Dewan, Farhin Khan Joyita, ATM Jahangir, Kanchan Mostafa, and others presented popular Tagore songs.
