A high-powered business delegation from China arrived in Dhaka on Thursday to explore possibility of sourcing from Bangladesh.
The 21-member team headed by China National Garment Association vice-president Feng Dehu visited three apparel factories on the first day of their tripThe delegation will visit 5-6 more factories in Dhaka today and tomorrow, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association sources said.
BGMEA vice-president Shahidullah Azim told New Age that sourcing from Bangladesh was the main objective of the visiting team.
‘They have started to visit garment factories and are assessing the quality of the products and working condition as well.’
The BGMEA, however, said that the delegation comprising of the representatives of 20 top brands of China want to do direct business with Bangladesh.
The delegation will sit with the BGMEA on May 11 and the association expects a huge quantity of export orders from the China retailers.
