Chinese ambassador Zang Xian Yi on Wednesday inaugurated a China studies centre on the North South University campus in Dhaka.
The inauguration of the centre, aimed at providing facilities of research and academic activities on China, was also attended by a six-member Chinese delegation, led by Yunan University vice-president Professor Xiao Xian.
The Chinese ambassador explained Bangladesh’s growing export trade to China in the recent years and expressed his high hopes about the future role of this centre in strengthening mutual bond and friendship both at the state and individual levels.
There are about 200 China studies centres across the globe and NSU was selected as the first of its kind in Bangladesh for studying Chinese culture, politics, economy, foreign relations.
NSU vice-chancellor Hafiz GA Siddiqi and other senior teachers of the university were also present on the occasion, said a press release.
