The two-day classical dance festival ended amidst enthusiasm of the classical dance buffs at Chhayanaut auditorium at Dhanmondi in the capital on Saturday. Different genres of classical dance including Manipuri, Odissi, Bharat Natyam and Kathak dance were presented by artistes from different districts on the concluding day. Sylhet-based artiste Santona Devi kicked off the day’s programme with her lively presentation of Manipuri dance. Shafiq Ahmed and Shuvra Sengupta from Barisal and Chittagong presented Bharat Natyam dance piece in solo performances.
However, the day’s greatest attraction was group performances by different dance organisations of the country. Artistes of Nrityasree presented a group Odissi dance recital at the programme. The dancers received loud applause from the people for their lively performance.
Nrityanchal artistes ended the programme with a Kathak dance presentation. The dancers, through their lively dancing, made the audience to feel the spirit of Kathak, which is one of the most popular genres of classical dance.
