A college girl allegedly committed suicide jumping from the fifth floor of Dhaka district sessions judge court building on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Rabeya Khatun, 22, student of Abujar Gifari College and resident of Malibag Hazipara in the capital. Kotowali police station subinspector Shahidul Islam said Rabeya jumped off the fifth floor of the court old building at around 4:00pm on Tuesday and sustained severe injuries.
She was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she died from her injuries at 6:00pm.
A mobile phone set was recovered from where Rabeya fallen and from messages in the set it seemed that she might have jumped off the building because of a strained love affairs, said the SI.
The victim’s mother Salma Begum said Rabeya got married last January.
But, she suddenly realised that her husband Atiqur Rahman was a terrorist and she then divorced him.
However, Atiq was disturbing him from that moment and consequently she killed herself failing to cope with the pain and disturbance.
