The 8th Ascent Corporate 5-A-Side Indoor Soccer Cup 2013 got underway amid much fanfare at the STM Hall of Scholastica School’s Uttara campus on Friday.
A total of 48 teams, divided into 16 groups, are taking part in the competition.
On the opening day, defending champions Beximco Pharmaceuticals got a walkover against Olympic Industries, Aarong Dairy posted a 2-0 win over Texmart, 2011 champions IIDFC thumped 10 goals without reply past Green Delta Securities and Securex registered a 3-0 win over GPIT.
In the day’s other matches, Ascent Group were held to a 2-2 draw by PMI, Chevron thrashed ULAB 4-0, Qubee secured a 4-1 win over Incepta, Gemcon Group battered General Electric 9-0, Lanka Bangla Finance pipped HRC 1-0 and Metlife Alico drew 2-2 with Bangla CAT.
