A full mission marine bridge simulator with dynamic positioning system was inaugurated on Friday for the first time in Bangladesh at United Maritime Academy in the capital.
The secretary general of the International Maritime Organisation, Koji Sekimizu, inaugurated the full mission marine bridge simulator at UMA, a concern of United Group at East Panthapath.
The IMO secretary general walked round different sections of the simulator and expressed satisfaction over the maritime education in Bangladesh.
Addressing the cadets, Koji Sekimizu wished bright future of the cadets and Bangladesh as a maritime nation and congratulated UMA.
UMA has recently procured the state of the art simulator from the world famous Eca-Sindel of Italy that complies with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers as certified by both DNV Class-A and the Royal Institution of Naval Architects.
UMA conducts two-year pre-sea training for marine cadets of both nautical and engineering branch as per the IMO syllabus and standards set by the Department of Shipping providing Higher National Diploma under the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
