Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) are going to sit with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia separately in a bid to find out a solution to the political impasse over election-time government. As part of the effort, a delegation, led by CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim and BSD general secretary Khalequzzaman, will participate in a dialogue with Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban at 7:30pm on Tuesday.
Talking to The Independent, Mujahidul Islam Selim said they communicated with the premier through AL presidium member and coordinator of 14-party grand alliance Mohammad Nasim in this regard.
“The Prime Minister invited me over phone on Sunday noon for a dialogue on Tuesday at 7:30pm at Ganabhaban,” he said.
Selim said they have already held meetings with leaders of Gano Forum and Left Front to discuss participation of all political parties in the forthcoming elections.
“We have taken initiative to exchange views with both ruling and opposition parties and reach an understanding on formation of the poll-time government,” he added.
The CPB and BSD leaders will meet with Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office on Wednesday evening.
BSD general secretary Khalequzzaman also confirmed that the Prime Minister invited them for talks.
“The Prime Minister invited us for a dialogue on October 29. She made a telephone call to me,” he said.
Replying to a question, Khalequzzaman said during the talks, they would convey their opinion to the major political parties over the poll-time government.
“The two major parties will be held responsible if any crisis is developed over formation of poll-time government and participation of all political parties in the election,” he added.
