Self-taught artist Samiran Dutt is displaying some spectacular decor and furniture items at his ongoing solo exhibition at
the Shilpangan Gallery in Dhanmondi.
The exhibition titled Shikorer Gaan displays around 200 artworks mostly done with wood and roots of trees.
The show showcases a medley of artistic furniture like beds, dressing tables, reading tables, tea table, chairs and small decorative items like flowers, birds of different colours and shapes, pen box and card box.
The small items are made of tree shells, coconuts or hard fruit-covers of Mahogany.
Interesting aspect of the show is that some of these well furnished decor and furniture items, made with the roots of the trees, have got the textures of jungles.
‘I like to work with wood. It is challenging. I’m also interested to take art at the corner of a room. So, give artistic expressions of daily used items’, Dutt told New Age.
Inaugurated on July 29, the exhibition will remain open for all from 10am to 8pm to August 10.
