National team cricketer Kazi Shahadat Hossain’s house maid on Monday gave her statement before a metropolitan magistrate in Dhaka alleging that she was tortured by the cricketer and his wife.
Metropolitan magistrate Snigdha Rani Chakraborty recorded the statement under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000 and sent back the 10-year-old domestic help to the One-stop Crisis Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she was undergoing treatment.
On September 7, Khandaker Mozammel Hossain, identifying to as a journalist, filed the case against the couple with Mirpur model police station under Section 4(2) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act for torturing the domestic help.
The domestic help, hailed from Jamalpur, was rescued from Pallabi in the capital on September 6 with injuries.
