The Chittagong City Corporation on Thursday announced Tk 1,106 crore budget for 2013-2014 fiscal without imposing any taxes and Tk 425 crore revised budget
while the proposed amount was Tk 960 crore.
The city mayor, M Monzurul Alam, placed the budget at Abdus Sattar Auditorium in presence of ward councillors, officials and other professionals.
Like previous years, no additional holding tax has been imposed and the network of holdings has been expanded.
Highlighting the major earning heads, Monzur said Tk 507 crore would come from internal income sources of CCC like taxes and rent, Tk 599 crore from Govt Allocation and donation of different organisations.
On the other hand, the development sector has got most of the allocation Tk 543 crore in the budget while Tk 268 crore has been earmarked for
salary and other expenditure of CCC.
Mayor said they had taken some projects for addressing water-stagnation, including digging a canal from Bahaddarhat to river Karnaphuli at a cost of Tk 295 crore.
The CCC has taken 14-storey apartment projects at different places in city for solving housing problem, the mayor said in his budget speech. He also informed that they would implement another two big projects at a cost of Tk 38 crore for waste management and food safety.
