Shortage of Gas Supply
Ctg experiences 240 MW loadshedding
Consumers of Chittagong Power Development Board (PDB) experienced loadshedding up to 130 megawatt (MW) during the day and 230-240 MW in the evening yesterday.
“We could not go for demand generation due to shortage of gas supply,” said PDB Chief Engineer (Generation) Shibu Kumar Chowdhury.
Due to gas shortage, two units of Shikolbaha remained closed for the last two days, he added.
During the hot season, total power demand of Chittagong city is around 600 MW, Shibu Kumar said.
“Whereas, yesterday we got only around 226 MW from Kaptai power plant, around 80 MW from Raojan power plant and around 106 MW from the national grid,” he said.
On the other hand, the private Regent power plant could only produce around 16 megawatt all day long, he added.
