Planning minister AK Khandker on Wednesday said utmost confidentiality would be maintained in preserving the ongoing economic census data, which would never be used for tax calculation.
‘The main objective of the economic census is betterment and improvement of the organisations involved in economic activities in the country,’ he told a news briefing at the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics in the city on the eve of launching the second phase of enumeration under the Economic Census-2013.
He called on all concerned to co-operate with the BBS enumerators and provide correct information to them.
BBS secretary M Nozibur Rahman, director general Golam Mostafa Kamal and the census project director, M Dilder Hossain, also spoke on the occasion.
The second phase of enumeration will cover 27 districts including Dhaka in May 15 to 24. Thirty-seven districts were covered by the just completed first phase of enumeration, BBS officials said.
They said a total of 82,112 people would be directly involved across the country in conducting the second phase of the census, with 37,000 of them collecting information from the businessmen.
The statistics bureau will publish the primary data of the census by December, they said.
