Former Bangladesh coach Dav Whatmore said he was delighted when the Tigers handed New Zealand a 4-0 whitewash last month.
“It just goes to show how much they have improved. Bangladesh played really well. I would say that they are progressing in the right direction,” said the man who was the head coach between 2003 and 2007.
Whatmore, who is in the country as the CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) coaching director, spoke to reporters in Comilla where CAB’s Under-17 team will be playing a game on Thursday. He arrived in Dhaka yesterday morning and went straight to the district town.
The Kolkata Knight Riders coach also praised Jamie Siddons, who became the Bangladesh coach in December 2008. “Jamie [Siddons] is a very good coach, he’s doing a good job. He’s working with the bowling and fielding coaches and I’m sure he has special plans for the national team,” he said.
Whatmore also added that Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is simply ‘unlucky’ to get injured once again.
He will travel to Sylhet from Comilla and return to Dhaka on November 13.
