Dutch-Bangla Bank awarded scholarships to 109 meritorious but needy students including eight physically disabled students who passed HSC Examination in 2009 and studying at graduate level in different disciplines including commerce, business, medical, engineering, agriculture, etc. Atiur Rahman, governor of Bangladesh Bank was present as the chief guest and gave away the scholarship awarding letters to the recipients at a simple ceremony held at Hotel Purbani International, Dhaka on July.

Atiur Rahman, governor, Bangladesh Bank in his oration profusely lauded the scholarship program of Dutch-Bangla Bank and recalled other philanthropic activities of the bank. He expected that all the corporate bodies of the country would come forward with such programs for the benefit of the society. Referring to the excellent performance of the bank, the governor expressed his felicitations to the bank. He extended his sincere thanks to the members of the board and directors of Dutch Bangla Bank for their benevolent initiatives. He also congratulated the students who got DBBL’s scholarship.
Sayem Ahmed, chairman of the executive committee of the bank in his speech said that since its inception, Dutch-Bangla Bank has been playing a pioneering role in implementation of various social and philanthropic activities in various fields like, education, health-care, human resource development, conservation of forest etc. for the betterment of the society. He also mentioned that 90per cent of the scholarships are awarded to the students coming from rural areas while 50per cent of the scholarships are awarded to the girl students. The chairman extended his gratitude and thanks to the governor for attending and gratifying the scholarship awarding ceremony. The chairman congratulated the students who got DBBL’s Scholarships
Md. Yeasin AIi, managing director of Dutch-Bangla Bank also spoke on the occasion. Among others, senior executives of Dutch-Bangia Bank were present at the function.
