With her latest film Happy New Year being declared a blockbuster, Deepika Padukone has managed to retain her successful run after back-to-back hits in 2013, reports Hindustan Times. After her recent successes Deepika has become an even hotter choice for filmmakers in India. Several top Bollywood film-makers are currently looking to work with the actor to cash in on her soaring popularity. Apparently, Ekta Kapoor, too, is trying to get Deepika on board for a film she will be producing. ‘She has met Deepika, and has spoken about the film at length. The actor is interested, but needs time to make a final decision,’ says the source.
According to rumours, Ekta’s production house Balaji Telefilms was planning to offer Deepika the lead role opposite Saif Ali Khan in director Sujoy Ghosh’s next. But when contacted, the spokesperson of the production house denied the same, saying, ‘No, we are not offering her Sujoy’s film. We are already in the pre-production stage for that film.’
However, the spokesperson hinted at collaborating with the actor, but not anytime soon. ‘Deepika doesn’t have dates till the end of 2015 as, after Shoojit Sircar’s film, she will be shooting for Homi Adajania’s next and then, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next. So, there’s nothing till 2016,’ informs the spokesperson.
