Bangladesh on Wednesday strongly condemned the continued Israeli attacks on Gaza of Palestine as it entered into the 3rd week, and called for immediate halt of the attacks, which caused casualty to hundreds of Palestinians, mostly the women and children.
The government of Bangladesh also urged the Israeli authorities to comply with the resolution of United Nations Security Council leading towards immediate, durable and fully respected ceasefire for full withdrawal of the Israeli forces from the Gaza.
‘We are appalled by the scale of devastation and the deaths of innocent Palestinians, including women and children, in the attacks,’ said a foreign ministry official release on Wednesday.
The release said, ‘Bangladesh is deeply concerned at the unabated violation of international humanitarian law and international human rights law by the Israeli occupation forces. It is disconcerting to see that even the humanitarian workers are being killed in the Israeli attacks.’
Bangladesh observed that denial of the entry for the ICRC, the special rapporteur for the Palestinian territories into the occupied zones, and foreign journalists into the conflict zone, is a blatant violation of the international law.
Bangladesh calls for immediate halt of the Israeli attacks that caused death to hundreds of Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children, and destroyed all infrastructures in the occupied territories.
The release said, ‘Israel must comply with the United Nations Security Council resolution-1860, adopted on the 8th of January, that called for an immediate, durable and fully respected ceasefire, leading to full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.’
‘Humanitarian workers must be guaranteed full and secured access to the Palestinian population who are in dire need of food, medicine, water, electricity and shelter. We also demand unhindered access of the ICRC and media into the occupied zone,’ said the statement.
Bangladesh also reiterates its long-standing position that the continued occupation of Palestinian territories by Israel forces is the root cause of violence, unrest and destabilisation in the region.
‘The people of Palestine are being denied of their fundamental right to self determination and the right to live freely in their own land. Millions of Palestinians are living in refugee camps for generations in abject poverty. We believe that full and sincere implementation of the relevant UN General Assembly and Security Council resolutions can only resolve the Palestinian crisis,’ said the foreign ministry statement.
Bangladesh said, ‘While we are deeply concerned at the continued Israeli violation of the UNSC resolution-1860 that aimed at cessation of hostilities, we hope the UN secretary general’s visit to the region would be helpful in restoring peace in Gaza and in all occupied Palestinian territories.’
