Ashiyan City Dhaka Metropolis School Football tournament gets underway today at Birshreshtha Mostafa Kamal Stadium with Sena Palli High School taking on St Joseph High School.
Some forty-one Dhaka schools, split into four venues, will play the knockout matches and two teams from each venue will advance into the round robin league.
The matches will be played at the BAF Shahin School and College ground, Khilgaon Jora Pukur ground, Rahmatganj ground and the Sadek Hossain Khoka ground in Gendaria.
Hasanuzzaman Bablu, chairman of the school tournament, disclosed these details yesterday at the BFF House where school committee chairman Mahfuzur Rahman, vice-chairman Sheikh Moha-mmad Aslam, Ashiyan City deputy managing director Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, Pran Group’s country manager Farhan Rashid and BFF vice-president Badal Roy were present.
Saiful Islam Bhuiyan promised to stay with school football and award the man-of-the-tournament with Tk one lakh.
The BFF has a plan to pick talented players from the tournament and give them proper training in the future.
