Bangladesh Railway will press a pair of new intercity train, Kalni Express, on Dhaka-Sylhet route from tomorrow.
The train will head from Sylhet Railway Station at 6:20am and reach Dhaka at 1:00pm while the return trip will start at 3:00pm, ending at Sylhet at 9:00pm, railway sources said.
The train will have stoppages at Kulaura, Srimangal, Shayestaganj and Airport in between the route.
Contacted, Station Manager Abul Kalam Azad of Bangladesh Railway, Sylhet said preparations are being taken for launching the new intercity train having 525 seats.
The new train tickets are already on sale at Dhaka since Saturday while, in Sylhet, ticket sales started yesterday.
Former railway minister Suranjit Sengupta had announced to launch the train on April 14, which became uncertain after he resigned following the railway-gate scandal.
However, taking over the railway ministry as the additional charge, Obaidul Quader okayed the new train’s launching, the sources said.
With the launching of Kalni Express, the intercity Jayontika Express on Dhaka-Sylhet route will start at 12:00 noon from the capital in place of 2:00pm. Both the trains will keep their services off on Friday.
