The Digital Innovation Fair-2011 begins in the city on July 6 as part of government efforts to build a digital Bangladesh by 2021, reports BSS.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the three-day digital fair as the chief guest at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre at 10.30am.
The Ministry of Science and ICT, UNDP supported Access to Information (A2I) Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office and Divisional Commission’s Office, Dhaka are jointly organising the second digital fair.
“The fair is designed to reach IT-based services to the doorsteps of the people,” State Minister for Science and ICT Architect Yeafesh Osman told a press conference in the conference room of Press Information Department (PID) at Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday.
National Project Director of the A2I Programme Md Nazrul Islam Khan and senior officials concerned, among others, addressed the press conference.
Yeafesh said the fair will make a bond of relationship between government and non-government organisations, adding the remarkable programmes taken by the government to build digital Bangladesh will be highlighted through the digital fair to the people.
More than a hundred government and non-government organisations will participate in the fair to present their services to the people.
The fair will remain open from 10 am to 8 pm every day. No entry fee will be required.
Three seminars will be held in the fair, where ICT experts will present keynote papers.
On second day of the fair, 31 organisations will be given ‘Digital Innovation Award’ for their outstanding contribution in innovating e-content.
The first digital innovation fair was held in Dhaka city from March 4 to 6 last year with the participation of 102 stalls — 82 of different ministries and departments and 20 stalls of five non-government organisations
