A two-day ‘digital innovation fair’ inaugurated on Barisal Zilla School premises on Monday with a view to creating accountability and transparency in the country.
A seminar styled ‘preferences in preparing strategy for digital Bangladesh’ was also organised on the occasion.
The fair was organised by Barisal Division Commissioner’s Office and Access to Information Programme under the prime minister’s office.
The Barisal mayor, Shawkat Hossain Hiron, inaugurated the fair as the chief guest while Barisal deputy commissioner ASM Arifur Rahman presided over the ceremony that was addressed, among others, by Barisal divisional commissioner Abu Hena Muham-mad Rahmatul Munim, deputy inspector general of police Binoy Krishna Bala, Barisal Metropolitan Police commissioner Abdur Rahim, superintendent of police Devdas Bhattacharjee.
Jhalakati deputy commissioner Ashok Kumar Bishwas presided over the seminar while A2I Programme consultant Afzal Hossain Sarwar presented a keynote paper at the seminar.
Patuakhali Science and Technology University professor Kamrul Hassan, Amzad Hossain Bhuiya and family planning directorate officer Hari Prasad Pal addressed the seminar.
The speakers discussed the importance of digitalisation of public services to prevent irregularities and corruption.
