When it comes to professionalism, Dipa Khondokar always brings her A-game to the screen. Before stepping into the world of acting, Dipa used to be a flight attendant, travelling around the globe. From the skies she landed a role in the TV serial “Kaktarua” that launched her acting career. Popularity soon followed, along with directors coming her way with interesting roles.
Since then Dipa has dedicated her entire schedule to acting, unlike many of her contemporaries who divulge in producing, directing and hosting shows. Dipa says she would occasionally accept modelling gigs — as long as the product and director are good — but acting will remain her sole profession. She has done TV commercials for Swan Foam, Aarong, Lipton Tazaa Tea, Starship, Cute Powder and Tibet. Her recent work, a TVC for Tibet Coconut Oil by Indian director Abhijit, has earned her much acclaim.
Dipa has acted in over 200 TV plays and tele-fims. The actress is not sure exactly how many TV serials she has done. Being paired with Zahid Hasan in the mega-serial “Lal Neel Beguni” was a turning point in her career. Other decisive works that paved her path were “Choitali Jochhna” and a deglamourised role she played in “Noyontara”. Dipa also considers “Shunno”, “Mohua”, “Opekkhae Brishti Ebong Goldfish-er Opomrittu”, “Shopno-bhuk”, “Shakkhi Kutum”, “Jol Pore Pata Nore” and “Keboli Raat Hoye Jae” as her noteworthy works.
When asked about her plans, Dipa says that she wants to continue working in interesting plays and serials, focusing more on quality than quantity.
During the peak in her acting career, Dipa married director Shahed Ali Sujon in 2006, and the couple has a son named Bondhu.
When she gets some free time, Dipa likes to travel. She has been to Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, India, Mauritius, Australia, England and the US.
Dipa informs that she has been working in three serials — Debashish Barua Dwip’s “Ghotok Baki Bhai Private Limited”, Jahangir Alam Shumon’s “Korunamoyee” and another one by Rayhan Khan — at present.
