Popular small screen director Dipankar Dipon will make his debut film on the myth of the popular tourist venue on the
Teknaf coast named Mathin-er Kup.
The film titled 1929-Ekti Prem Gantha feature the tragic love story of a Marma woman Mathin and a Kolkata-based actor named Dhiraj during his visit in the coastal area in 1929. For the actor, the affair was nothing but fun, but for the poor girl it was the most important incident in her life.
As a result Mathin commits suicide diving into a dug-well as Dhiraj cheats her.
‘The script of the film has already been finalized and right now the process of casting is going on. It will be a joint venture where artistes and crews from Bangladesh and India will work together. To keep a closer link to the history, the hero will be selected from Kolkata while a local actor will be the heroine,’ Dipankar Dipon told New Age.
The shooting is expected to begin in May next year and will take place at various locations including Teknaf in Bangladesh, and Kolkata and Goa in India. The makers are planning to release the film during Eid-Ul-Fitr next year if everything goes as planned.
‘It will be a challenge to portray 1929 in present days. However, the time is only a background of the film and we are going to depict the socio-economic condition of that period. What we will concentrate on is the pure love story,’ Dipankar Dipon said.
Dipon also said that he got interested to make the film on the myth for its strong message. ‘It will be a touching story of love and I believe the audience will love it,’ also said Dipon.
The maker also shared that the fourteen sound tracks including eight songs are to be created and recorded by both local and Indian musicians.
The film is a project of Pothik production house.
