The beauty of art is in finding beauty in the minutest details of things we observe. From small ants to enormous elephants, where there is life, there is beauty. Therefore, life is to be rejoiced, to be adored and also to be venerated. And the diversities of lives, no matter how great or trivial, are worth being photographed.
Seventy photographers from the Photographic Society of Rajshashi University of Engineering and Technology and some other educational institutes have organised a three-day photography exhibition titled Life in Photos at Drik Gallery at Dhanmondi in the capital. The group exhibition has on display 80 images, showing lives from different perspectives. Photographers have captured scenes of wildlife in great detail, as some of the photos zoom in on insects particularly.
Shobhon Chandra Sarkar in his photograph titled Motherhood has captured a mother bird feeding her chicks with her beak depicting the universal affection of mothers to their children. Motherhood has also appeared with all its gracefulness in Mohammad Rashidul Islam’s image Spider and Eggs, which shows a spider guarding her eggs.
The image titled A Perfect Model, framed by Sheikh Saiful Alamin Sumon, on the other hand, shows a photographer capturing a monkey. Both the photographer and the monkey are visible in the image in which the most interesting thing is that the monkey seems to be posing for the photographer.
About the exhibition, Rifat Iqbal, one of the participants and also a member of RUET Photographic society, told New Age that this is for the first time the society has organised an exhibition in Dhaka. ‘We are getting very good response from the audience here,’ added Iqbal.
Begun on Thursday, the exhibition will remain open from 3:00pm to 8:00pm till today.
