A forth-year-student of Dhaka Medical College on Friday committed suicide at Dr Fazle Rabbi Hall in the city’s Bakshibazar.
The deceased, Nehal, hailed from Habiganj, was a resident of room A/8 at the hostel.
The hostel sources said Nehal was found unconscious sedated by anti-histamine tablets at about 11:00am at his room and was admitted to the hospital where he died at about 2:30pm.
His mates suspected that his prolonged depression over academic results may act behind the suicide.
Nehal had lost his studentship and readmitted at the college in 2007, the college sources said.
No case was filed till 7:00pm, the Shahbagh police said.
