A ward boy was held in possession of a huge quantity of medicines at
Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Tuesday.
The arrested, Nasiruddin, 42, an assistant of ward 210 of the hospital, was caught during a drive led by the hospital director, Brigadier General Mostafizur Rahman, at about 9:00am.Mostafizur said they had been observing
the ward boy for the last three days as they had information that his was illegal selling government drugs.
On Tuesday, they caught him at his workplace and recovered a total of 39,998 pieces of different types of drugs worth about Tk 35,000 from his bag, he added.
Nasriudding was handed over to the Shahabag police.
The ward master, Babul Mia, filed a case with the Shahabag police.
Earlier on Saturday, a joint-drive of the Directorate General of Drug Administration and the Rapid Action Battalion sealed four shops in the Mitford Hospital area as they were selling government medicines which were not for sale.
