National coach Chandika Hathurusinghe on Wednesday requested the Dhaka Premier League coaches to ensure that the national players follow the schedule planned by the national trainer when they will be on club duty. The Dhaka Premier League is expected to start on November 5 when a good number of national players will be engaged with different clubs. Hathurusinghe had a formal meeting with the club coaches when he requested them to maintain the training schedule.
‘Trainer [Mario Villavarayan] will provide training module for every individual and we are asked to follow them,’ said Mohammedan Sporting Club’s coach Sohel Islam.
‘Hathurusinghe wants us to strictly maintain the schedule so that the preparation for the upcoming World Cup is not hampered.’
The Sri Lankan also asked the local coaches to inform him if any new player looks impressive to their eyes and can be considered as a national prospect.
It was learnt that some national players will have a 10-day break after the league as Hathurusinghe feels that some of them will require rest to come up with a fresh leg for their World Cup campaign.
The World Cup is scheduled in Australia and New Zealand in February-March.
