The Dhaka Premier League, scheduled to begin on October, is set to be delayed by a few more days after national coach Chandika Hathurusinghe requested to arrange a three-day warm-up match ahead of the Test series against Zimbabwe. The league, which was originally scheduled to start from October 10, was earlier deferred by the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis for Eid-ul-Azha.
It was learnt that Hathurusinghe had intended to play a three-day match from October 16-18 to get his charges to have some useful practice before the first Test against Zimbabwe in Dhaka.
A BCB official said the league is unlikely to begin before October 24 as the BCB gave Hathurusinghe’s request a big priority.
‘We cannot start the league as per our plan as we have to accommodate the three-day match,’ said a grounds committee official.
However, the CCDM officials said they didn’t have any idea about the latest development and were adamant to start the league on October 14.
‘We have not received any official letter about it,’ said Amin Khan, co-coordinator of the premier league.
The first Zimbabwe Test begins in Dhaka on October 25.
