The fate of the Dhaka Premier League was plunged into further doubt after some clubs expressed their unwillingness to discuss the bylaws unless the
Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed its annual grants to them.
The bylaws of the league were supposed to be discussed in a meeting of the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis on Wednesday, but Kalabagan Krira Chakra and newly-promoted Khelaghar Samajkalyan refused to sit and talk about the issue, said the officials.
‘The meeting of the CCDM could not take place as the clubs are not willing to speak without receiving assurances for the grants promised by
the BCB president,’ said Hanif Bhiuya, who was acting as the chairman of the CCDM.
The BCB announced fresh dates for the league, now scheduled to start on August 29, with the newly-introduced players recruitment programme on July 25.
Though the amounts of the grants for the clubs have not yet been finalised, it has been reported that the BCB was considering an amount of Tk 40 lakh per club.
