The Rapid Action Battalion seized 450gm heroin, 5.9kg cannabis and 139 bottles of smuggled liquor in Sylhet city during separate drives between Tuesday late night and Wednesday early hours.
The elite force, however, failed to detain anyone during the drive, the sources said.
Acting on a tip-off, a RAB-9 team conducted a drive at Puran Station area in Sylhet at around 5:00am on Wednesday and seized 450gm heroin and 5.9kg cannabis abandoned under the overhead water tank in the area, the RAB sources said.
Earlier at around 4:30am, the battalion team also seized 50 pieces of Yaba tablets near the Keane Bridge at Chandighat in the city.
A separate team of the force seized 39 bottles of beer smuggled from India at Bhadaghat, a city outskirt, at around 1:45am on Wednesday, sources in the RAB said.
The battalion members also seized 100 bottles of smuggled liquor including 94 bottles of Officers Choice and 6 bottles of Whisky in an abandoned state at Khadimpara in the city at 10:00pm on Tuesday, the sources said.
Being contacted, the on-duty officer of RAB-9 information unit confirmed New Age about the seized contraband goods.
