The 51st annual general meeting of the Dhaka Stock Exchange will be held today,
three months later than the regular time.
A new board of directors of the bourse will be formed on the day and the current board will place the financial accounts of the bourse before its members in the AGM.The next president, senior vice-president and vice-president of the bourse will be elected in the AGM to be held at the Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in the city.
The tenure of the board will be only five months as the stock exchange has to form a new board within the next five months to implement the demutualisation act.
The DSE is holding the AGM three months later than the regular time due to the demutualisation of the stock exchange.
The previous AGM of the bourse was held on March 15 last year.
On June 10 this year, four new directors — Sharif Anowar Hossain of Sahidullah Securities, Azizul Hoque of B & B Enterprise, Shahed Abdul Khaleque of Shahed Securities and Khugesta Nur-E-Naharin of Modern Securities — of the bourse got elected in an elections.
The four will replace four other directors — DSE president Rakibur Rahman, Ahmed Iqbal Hasan, Khwaja Ghulam Rasul and Sharif Ataur Rahman, who will complete their tenure today.
Of the 25 directors of the DSE, 12 are elected, 12 are nominated from different business bodies and the rest one is the chief executive officer of the DSE and every year four elected directors retire from their posts.
