To keep an invitation from the External Affairs Minister of India, SM Krishna, a 21-member cultural delegation from the Departments of Theatre and Music of the University of Dhaka led by the Vice Chancellor of the Dhaka University, Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, will visit India on a goodwill visit from August 22 to 27, says a news release.
The External Affairs Minister of India, who had inaugurated the Kala Bhaban at the Dhaka University (DU), during his recent visit to Bangladesh last month has extended the invitation to the students of the DU who had presented sterling performances of music and theatre on the occasion of his visit to the University.
The cultural delegation led by the Vice Chancellor, will comprise of the Chairpersons of the Departments of Theatre and Music of the DU and 18 students.
The cultural delegation is scheduled to present chorus music and a theatre performance- “Komola Ranir Sagordighi” – at the ICCR auditoriums in New Delhi and Kolkata. The group will also travel to the Viswa Bharati University in Shantiniketan for a day-long sightseeing tour.
The DU VC is scheduled to meet with the large Bangladeshi student community at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi and that at Viswa Bharati University in Shantiniketan, especially the alumni of the DU. A proposed MoU on educational cooperation between the Jawaharlal Nehru University and the DU is also expected to be discussed during the visit. The visit is expected to further foster the strong bilateral youth and cultural linkages between the two countries.
