Online forms for admission in Dhaka University under its 2011-12 session were made available on Tuesday.
The university vice-chancellor, AAMS Arefin Siddique, launched the online forms in the registrar building’s central admission room at noon.
The forms will be available till September 15 and the applicants have to take admit cards within September 25.
No technical and information problem would take place in the admission process, the VC said in the inauguration programme, also attended by central examination controller Professor Hasibur Rashid, deputy registrar Md Moniruzzaman along with DU teachers Subrata Kumer Aditto, Md Zulfiker Hafiz, Md Mamunur Rashid and others.
This time due to good results in the HSC examinations the number of eligible applicants has increased to 5,13,175 from 4,13,327 last year of whom 1,61,676 had applied for admission.
The university authorities have introduced the online admission process to reduce the applicants’ dependence on coaching centre in filling the forms, the VC said.
The admission tests under ‘Ka’ unit will be held on October 14, ‘Kha’ unit on October 21, ‘Ga’ unit on October 28, ‘Gha’ unit on November 18 and ‘Cha’ unit on November 25.
All information is available on the university website (admission.univdhaka.edu) and the help lines for admission process are 01842-244244, 01616-151559 and the students can also get the latest information on the admission process from any mobile operator by sending SMS to 16321 writing ‘DU’.
