The four-day event ‘Dhaka University National Model of United Nations -2013’ will end today at the university’s Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.
With a view to engaging young people in setting peace and prosperity across the world and negotiation and understanding among the nations, Dhaka University Model United Nations Association organised the second
annual conference in collaboration with the United Nations Information
Centre.
Themed ‘uphold humanity, attain peace-ensuring human rights: the way to global peace and prosperity’, the programme was opened by DU vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique at the Senate Bhaban on September 17.
Around 420 university and advanced level students took part in the programme that highlighted different global issues of various countries to reach a negotiation, the organisers said.
DU treasurer Kamal Uddin Ahmed United Nations resident coordinator Neil Waker, UN Information Centre officer-in charge Kazi Ali Reza and Asa University vice-chancellor Dalem Chandra Barman are scheduled to attend the closing ceremony in the afternoon.
English national daily New Age, private television channel Somoy TV, Radio Swadhin and bdnews24.com are the media partners of the festival.
