The Dhaka University Teachers’ Association election will be held on December 31.
The voting for electing the 15-member executive committee of DUTA will be held at the Teachers’ Club of the university from 10:00am to 2:00pm without any break.
Pro-Awami League teachers under ‘Blue panel’, teachers loyal to BNP-Jamaat under ‘White panel’ and the left-leaning teachers under ‘Pink panel’ will contest the polls.
Professor AK Fazlul Haque Shah of the DU marketing department will conduct the election.
This year, the candidates for DUTA president are Dean of social sciences faculty and current DUTA president Professor Farid Uddin Ahmad from ‘Blue panel’, and chemistry Professor Tajmeri SA Islam from ‘White panel’.
Those who will vie for the vice-president post are provost of Freedom Fighter Ziaur Rahamn Hall Professor ABM Faruque from ‘Blue panel’ and DUTA sitting vice-president Professor Akhter Hossain Khan from the ‘White panel’ while dean of the earth and environment faculty Professor ASM Maksud Kamal and DU syndicate member Professor Mamun Ahmed will contest for general secretary post from Blue and White panels respectively.
