The body of an Eden College student was found at Gopalganj town on Tuesday.
The deceased, Sadia Noor Mita, 22, a third year student of chemistry department, was the daughter of Liakat Hossain Mollah of Mianpara in Gopalganj.
Sadar police chief Borhanuddin told journalists that several wounds were found in the body and she might have been killed after being raped.
Police found the body in a pond at Mianpara and sent it to Gopalganj General Hospital for autopsy, he said.
Quoting the victim’s family, Borhan said Mita came back home on Aug 24 after her college was closed. She went missing after taking Sehri, or meal for fasting, early on Tuesday, he added.
No case was filed in this connection until evening.
