The Bangladesh Hockey Federation has decided to give gifts and incentives to national team players during the Asia Cup preparation camp in an effort to raise morale.
In addition to the Tk 15000 monthly salary each player is paid, the BHF will award Tk 5000 to three stand-out performers each week during the national camp, according to Abdur Rashid Shikder, BHF vice-president and manager of the national team.
`We increased the incentives for players to inspire them. We also decided that if the national team manages fifth place in the Asia Cup we will give them Tk. 50000 each,’ said Shikder.
Players will also receive punjabis for the coming Eid-Ul-Fitr, and the president of the BHF, Air Marshal Enamul Bari, will furnish players with Tk 5000 to buy athletic shoes.
Player morale has been tested in the wake of six clubs’ decision to boycott activities under the newly-elected BHF administration. The inter-club player transfer remains in limbo, restricting player movement.
