Highlights of special programmes
This Eid-ul-Fitr, TV viewers are in for a treat. BTV, ATN Bangla, Channel i, ntv, Banglavision, Desh TV and others are offering an array of special TV plays, feature films, tele-films, musical and variety shows on the occasion of Eid. The programmes will be aired throughout the week and will feature noted and popular artistes. Here are the highlights of the Eid-special programmes.
BTV
“Ityadi”
The Eid special episode of popular entertainment show “Ityadi” will be aired on the second day after BTV’s eight o’clock news.
Like every Eid episode, the programme will commence with the popular Nazrul Sangeet “O mon ramjaner oi rojar sheshey.” Five hundred people will feature in the song.
A duet song, featuring renowned singers Sabina Yasmin and Andrew Kishor, is the highlight of the programme.
Popular film heroes from the 1970s-80s of Bangla filmdom, Faruk, Bulbul Ahmed and Wasim, will take part in a special skit. Contemporary models and actors Nobel, Shimul, Pallab, Monalisa, Bindu and Momo will perform a group dance.
“Ityadi” has been planed, compiled and hosted by Hanif Sanket.
-Special dance performances by Hero and Chandni this Eid
This Eid, Anisul Islam Hero and Chandni will feature in several Eid special dance programmes on Channel-I, Banglavision, Baishakhi and BTV. On BTV the programme will be telecast on Eid day at 9:05pm; subsequently they will dance to Bappa Majumder’s song Shurjo Sthane Chol on Banglavision the same day at 9:40 pm. On the second day of Eid, the duo will be featured on Baishakhi. They will be presenting a dance on BTV on the third day of Eid as well.
ATN BANGLA
Special debate “Biyer Porey Neel Akasher Chaitey Laal Gari Odhik Pochhondonio” will be aired on Eid day at 11:15am.
Written and directed by Humayun Ahmed, single-episode TV play “Onushondhan” will be aired on Eid day at 7:45pm.
The play circles around an expatriate Bangladeshi, who contemplates making a documentary, but is unclear about the subject matter.
One day he observes a little girl running with a fan made of palm leaf (taalpakha). Masud follows her to her home and finds an idea for his documentary.
The cast includes Dr. Ejaz, Jayanto Chattopadhyay, Mir Sabir, Majnun Mizan, Sharmin and Mridula.
Tele-film “Patri Chai”, written and directed by Brindabon Das and Salahuddin Lavlu respectively, will be aired on the second day of Eid at 4:40pm.
The tele-film centres around a nitpicky bachelor who wants to marry but cannot find a perfect bride. On his 100th attempt, his family members refuse to accompany him but he secretly meets the girl and takes a liking to her.
The cast includes Dolly Zahur, Mosharraf Karim, Chanchal Chowdhury and others.
Telefilm “Megh Jol Upakkhan”, written and directed by Bipasha Hayat and Tauquir Ahmed respectively, will be aired on the third day of Eid at 4:40pm.
The tele-film revolves around Sumon and Tina and their friendship, which turns sour when they marry each other.
Fazlur Rahman Babu, Tauquir Ahmed and Aupi Karim play the lead roles.
CHANNEL I
Single-episode TV play “Bhalobasha” will be telecast at 7:50 pm on Eid day. Written by Humayun Ahmed, the play is directed by Gazi Mazharul Islam.
The play features Mahfuz Ahmed, Meher Afroz Shaon, Jayantyo Chattopadhyay, Shamima Naznin and Hassan Masood in central characters.
Feature film “Gongajatra” will be aired at 2:20pm on Eid Day. The film is written and directed by Syed Ohiduzzaman Diamond.
The cast includes Popy, Ferdous, Simla, Shahidul Islam Sacchu and Sabrina.
Single-episode play “Gadhanagar” will be aired at 9:35 pm on Eid day. Written by Masum Reza, the play is directed by Salauddin Lavlu. The cast includes Chanchal Chowdhury, Nova, Afroza Banu, Masum Aziz and others.
The play revolves around a complete loser (played by Chanchal Chowdhury). The play has been shot in the local dialect of Kushtia.
Single-episode play “Will” will be aired at 9:35 pm on the second day of Eid. Written by Faruk Hossain, the play is directed by Animesh Aich. The cast includes Aly Zaker, Aupi Karim, Shahiduzzaman Selim and Iresh Zaker.
Game show for farmers, “Krishok-er Eid Anando”, will be telecast at 4:30 pm on the third day of Eid.
This is the sixth segment of “Krishok-er Eid Anando” on Channel i. The channel has been holding this programme on every Eid since 2006. On this Eid, Channel i went to the Padma area, under the Hardinge and Lalon Shah bridge, at Ishwardi’s Ruppoor and Bheramara’s Bahirchar union point, in Pabna and Kushtia border to shoot the show. The show features traditional games, such as climbing oiled banana trees, pillow fight, water polo, bull-cart race, boat race and more. The show is planned, presented and directed by Shykh Seraj.

Special musical programme “Rock n Roll”, featuring performances by popular bands — Warfaze, Shironamhin, Souls, LRB and Prometheus — will be aired at 10:45 am on Eid day. The programme is produced by Mamunur Rashid Khan.
Based on a story by Satyajit Ray, single-episode TV play “Aa” will be telecast at 8:10 pm on Eid day. The play has been adapted and directed by Animesh Aich.
The cast includes Abul Hayat, Shotabdi Wadud, Moutushi Bishwas and others.
Tele-film “Saat Shagor Tero Nodi” will be aired at 11:30 pm on Eid day. The film has been Written and directed by Ferdous Hassan. Mahfuz Ahmed and Prova have played the lead roles.
The play centres on a young man who in a desperate effort to go abroad, creates false documents of his marriage. When people from the embassy come to his house to check on him, they find an ailing woman and assumes her as his wife. However, he tells them the truth that she is not his wife.
Single-episode TV play “Hamid Miar Ijjot” will be telecast at 8:10 pm on the second day of Eid. The play has been written by Humayun Ahmed. The cast includes Jayanto Chattopadhyay, Shamima Naznin, Majnun Mizan and others.
“Music Circle” will be aired at 9:45 pm on the third day of Eid. The programme will feature performances by Fahmida Nabi, Bappa Majumder, Balam, Julie, Asif and others.
ETV
Single-episode TV play “Asru Nayan Tara” will be aired at 9:30 pm on Eid Day. The play is written by Nazim Uddin Prodip and directed by Sajad Hassan Bablu.
The plot: Asru and Nayan are two brothers and are very close to each other. Nayan goes abroad for higher studies. Asru stays back to help out his father with business. After a road accident, Asru loses his eyesight and the story gets a twist from this point.
The cast includes Azizul Hakim, Shahriar Nazim Joy, Abdul Quader, Dipa Khondokar and others.
Musical programme “Eid Special Rock With Ayub Bachchu” will be aired at 10:30 pm on Eid day. Bachchu will perform five of his most popular numbers, speak on the background of his songs, and share some personal experiences on the show, hosted by Tinku Rahman.
Special episodes of “Phone O Live Studio Concert” will be aired at midnight everyday from Eid day. Popular bands LRB, Dolchhut, Black and Obscure will perform on the show. They will be joined by artiste Hridoy Khan. Alif Alauddin is the host of the show.
Talk show “Celebrity Eid Adda” will be aired at 8:30 pm on the second day of Eid. The programme will feature an informal adda session. Singers Fahmida Nabi and Bappa Majumder, Shafin Ahmed of the band Miles and actor Mosharraf Karim will take part in the adda. The programme is hosted by Fahmida Nabi.
“Chand Raat-er Golpo”, a special programme, will be telecast at 10:30 pm on the second day of Eid.
The plot revolves around a tea seller and his dream, which he has on chand raat (the night before Eid). In his dream, the tea seller meets his favourite actor Afzal Sharif. The two go out at the night to see the conditions of the people living on the streets.
The programme is produced by Kamruzzman Ranju.
BANGLAVISION
Single-episode TV play, “Ghor”, written and directed by Brindabon Das and Salahuddin Lavlu respectively, will be aired on Eid day at 8:10pm
The play circles around Raja Sarker who cheats gullible people from a village in North Bengal, promising to send them to Saudi Arabia. Among those duped are Hasan and Ratan who sell all their land and property in the hope of reaping rich returns. Finding that they have been cheated, all of them return to their village in shame and sorrow. Ratan tries to commit suicide after the incident.
Azizul Hakim, Tania Ahmed, AKM Hasan, KS Firoz, Lara Lotus and Moutushi enact the lead roles in the play.
The play revolves around Maksud, director of a theatre troupe, who suddenly disappears. Consequently, the play “Nuh-er Nouka” cannot be staged despite full rehearsals. After five years, he reappears before Mallika and Arif, a couple from the troupe. There are many twists and turns because of Maksud’s previous relationship with Mallika, the heroine of his play.
Tanvin Sweety, Ahmed Rubel and Litu Anam play the lead roles.
Tele-film “Tarpor O Angurlata Nando-ke Bhalobashey” will be aired on the second day of Eid at 3:10pm. With dialogue and direction by Mezbaur Rahman Sumon, the tele-film is an adaptation of a story by Bimol Kor.
The protagonist, Angurlata, is a prostitute. One day, Angurlata comes across a bearded man with tired, yellow eyes named Nando. Nando beseeches her to allow him to stay two nights in her shanty. Angurlata gives him shelter. Two weeks elapse, but Nando is unable to leave as he has high fever. Angurlata takes him to a doctor and goes through all her savings; despite all attempts to save him, one evening Nando dies.
Joya Ahsan and Animesh Aich play the lead roles in the tele-film.
Dance show “Soul Dance”, with the participation of actors and actresses, will be aired on Eid day at 9:40pm.
Nahid Ahmed Biplob has produced the programme.
Solo musical programme “With Runa Laila” will be aired on the third day of Eid at 6:40pm.
The programme will cover five popular songs of Runa Laila, which she performed at a recent concert.
Morol Kamrul Hasan Bayezid and Javed Iqbal Tapu have jointly produced the programme.
Rtv
Single-episode play “Vanity Bag” will be aired on the second day of Eid at 9pm.
The story of the comical play circles around a lost purse. A young woman loses her vanity bag, which has some important documents in it. A man finds the purse. He wants to return it to its owner. After going through the bag, he comes across several addresses, which confuses him. Finally he and his two friends decide to check at all the addresses.
The cast includes Chanchal Chowdhury, Sumaiya Shimu and Shubho.
Tele-film “Typewriter” will be aired on the third day of Eid at 3pm. Written by Dewan Shamsur Rakib, the film has been directed by Tanvir Hussain Probal. Anima, the protagonist, works for a newspaper. She loves Rohan and wants to be with him. But her job, which is yet to be permanent, stands in the way. She gets a typewriter from her office, which starts to play a mysterious role in her life.
Joya Ahsan, Intekhab Dinar, Tanvir Hossain Probal and Shamim Shahed play the central characters.
Featuring celebrities, talk show “Taray Taray Khochito” will be aired on the first, fourth and fifth day of Eid. Each day, the programme will be aired at 5:40pm and will feature celebrities from different fields like politics, sports and showbiz.
Produced by Shahriar Islam, the programme will be hosted by Tazin Ahmed.
A special episode of Rtv’s regular programme “Dhrupadi Kahini” will be aired on the first day of Eid at 6:40pm.
The special episode will feature two celebrity families. M. Hamid, his wife Falguni Hamid and daughter Tonima Hamid along with Aly Zaker, his wife Sara Zaker and son Iresh Zaker will appear as guests on the show. Shakila Zafar will also appear as a guest on the programme.
The programme has been compiled, directed and hosted by Shanta Islam.
Single-episode play “Jhilimili Jhilimili Dheu’er Joley” will be aired on the second day of Eid at 7:20pm. Dibyendu Udash is the writer and director of the play.
The story circles around two friends Tambu and Guddu. They make a trip to Cox’s Bazar. Jhili and Mili, from Mizan’s in laws’ family accompany them. One day, while Tambu and Guddu are singing the song “Jhilimil jhilimil,” Jhili and Mili take it as an insult and go off on the two friends.
Mosharraf Karim, Shaju Khadem, Tamalika Karmakar and Sharmin Shila play the lead roles.
DESH TV
Tele-film “Uponyasher Naam Abayab” will be aired on Eid night at 9:30pm. Written by noted author Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, the tele-film is directed by Abdullah Rana.
The story circles around an author named Asif. Asif writes a novel and thinks that his creation is a masterpiece. Despite his confidence, Asif fails to impress any publisher. Asif’s assistant Mazhar take’s charge and somehow succeeds in publishing it. The novel turns out to be a best seller. The story gets a twist when it is revealed that, instead of Asif the author’s name has been published as Mazhar.
Iresh Zaker, Dr. Ejazul Islam, Tanvin Sweety and Ahmed Rubel play the central roles in the telefilm.
Musical show “Rock Buzz” will be aired on the second day of Eid at 7:30pm.
The programme will feature some popular rock stars, including Sumon (of Aurthohin), Shezan (of Artcell), Jon (of Black) and Mizan (of Warfaze). Pop singer Mehreen will host the show.
Three single episode plays — written and directed by Humayun Ahmed — will be aired on three consecutive nights. The plays will be aired at 10:02pm every night. First to air will be “Chheley Dekha”.
The second play, titled “Nitu’r Ghorey Phera” will be aired on the third day of Eid.
The third play, “Natya Mangaler Kotha Shuney Punyaban”, will be aired on the fourth day of Eid.
Music enthusiasts can enjoy a live show aired from the Desh TV studio throughout the five nights of Eid, starting from 11:45pm every night. Titled “Call-er Gaan”, the show will feature popular bands and artistes. On the first day of Eid, rock band Artcell will be featured on the programme.
Other bands and artistes to be featured are ‘Nagar Baul’ James (on the second day), Ayub Bachchu and LRB (on the third day), folk singer Momtaz (on the fourth day) and Close Up 1 contestants Rinku, Ronti and Rajib (on the fifth day).
