Elon Musk may have threatened to sue the Satya Nadella-led tech giant Microsoft in a viral tweet. According to the SpaceX and Tesla CEO’s tweet reply, Microsoft may have been illegally using Twitter data.
In a viral tweet, Elon Musk, referring to Microsoft said, “They trained illegally using Twitter data. Lawsuit time.”
To add context to the issue, Twitter Daily News, an official handle reported that Microsoft drops Twitter from its advertising platform. The tech giant reportedly dropped Twitter after refusing to pay the social media giant’s API fees.
“NEWS: Microsoft drops Twitter from its advertising platform as they refuse to pay Twitter’s API fees…… Elon states that this is related to illegally using Twitter Data,” the official tweet read.
The viral tweet further adds that starting April 25 smart campaigns with multi-platform will no longer support Twitter. It reads, “Starting on April 25, 2023, Smart Campaigns with Multi-platform will no longer support Twitter. You’ll be unable to: – Access your Twitter account through our social management tool – Create and manage drafts or Tweets – View past Tweets and engagement – Schedule Tweets.”
However, it clarifies that other social media channels like Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn will continue to be available.
Adding to Musk’s warning of suing Microsoft, the latter, in a message on top of the support page for Microsoft’s advertising platform, wrote that it will no longer support Twitter from April 25, 2023. This also means that companies can no longer use Microsoft’s platform to manage their tweets and for engagement.
Microsoft wrote, “Starting on April 25, 2023, Smart Campaigns with Multi-platform will no longer support Twitter. As of April 25, 2023, you’ll be unable to: Access your Twitter account through our social management tool, Create and manage drafts or Tweets, View past Tweets and engagement, and Schedule Tweets.”
