Jatiya Party chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad’s son Eric Ershad presented Tagore’s songs from his second Tagore music album Alo mar Alo that was launched on Tuesday at the Muktijudhha Smriti Auditorium of Institute of Diploma Engineers in Kakrail.
Ekushey Padak winning Tagore singer Kaderi Kibria was present at the album launching ceremony as the chief guest. Hossain Muhammad Ershad was also present at the programme to bless his son.
Moreover, the cultural organisation Gitisatra presented patriotic songs and the dance troupe Brindanritya staged a dance recital synchronised with Eric’s rendition of Tagore number Aji dhaner khete.
Seasoned Tagore singers Fahim Hossain Chowdhury and Kaderi Kibria also rendered evergreen Tagore songs to entertain the audience.
Requested by his father, Eric began the show rendering the Tagore song Tumi khushi thako, which had been recorded in his first album Keboli Swapan released last year.
Though his voice is yet to be mature, the 13-year old singer gave a soulful presentation of popular Tagore songs such as Amare tumi ashesh korechho and Ami chini go chini from his second album which features 12 Tagore songs.
Popular singer Fahim Hossain Chowdhury entertained the houseful audience presenting Tagore songs Amar ei path chawatei anando and Dakbona dakbona.
Kaderi Kibria presented Tagore’s numbers Amar je din bhese gechhe, Bodhu michhe raag koro na. For Eric, Kibria expressed his blessing with Tagore number Tomar holo shuru.
In response to the audience’s request, Eric, his music teacher Sanjay Roy and Kaderi Kibria together presented Tagore’s popular romantic song Ektuku chhoya lage.
Eric also rendered of his favourite singer Manna Dey’s famous song Jodi kagoje likho naam.
As the day was legendary musician Sachin Dev Burman’s 117th birth anniversary, Eric and Sanjay Roy paid tribute to the legend presenting Burman’s evergreen number Tumi ar nei se tumi in duet that wrapped up the eventful programme.
Eric’s solo album has been produced by Fahim Music. Sanjay Roy has supervised the music composition of the album.
