Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad on Tuesday sent a letter to United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon through visiting UN Assistant Secretary-General Oscar Fernandez-Taranco. Ershad’s Special Assistant Bobby Hajjaj handed the letter for the UN Secretary General to Taranco at Hotel Sonargaon. The JP chief did not disclose the subject matter of the letter. According to JP sources, Ershad in his letter said the elections would not get acceptance sans the participation of all political parties. He also urged the UN chief to take initiatives to facilitate the holding of the elections within the purview of the constitution.
Ershad also thanked the UN Secretary General for sending his special envoy to help resolve the on going political impasse.
Oscar Fernandez-Taranco on Sunday held a meeting with the JP chairman at his Baridhara residence ‘President Park’.
