Etihad Airways has recently announced to establish Etihad Flight College in the United Arab Emirates for Emirati and international cadet pilots with an aim to provide a world-class flight training facility, said a news release. As a first step in establishing this college, Etihad Airways is in the process of acquiring the fixed wing training division from Horizon International Flight Academy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mubadala Development Company.
Based in Al Ain, Horizon has been providing helicopter (rotary wing) training programmes since 2003 and airplane (fixed wing) training since 2007. At Horizon, pilots can qualify for their Private Pilot’s Licence, Commercial Pilot’s Licence or Airline Transport Pilot Licence.
