The 2nd photo exhibition titled ‘Chobi Dekhe Shekha – Butterflies of Bangladesh, Inventory Second Phase’ begins at Drik Gallery, Dhanmondi, in the capital today.
Ishtiaq Uddin Ahmed, country representative of IUCN Bangladesh, will be the chief guest at the inaugural session while Stephen John Ball, chief financial officer of HSBC Bangladesh, will be present as special guest.
A book on the same topic ‘Butterflies of Bangladesh – Inventory Second Phase’ is also set to be unveiled on the same occasion, said a Drik press release.
A butterfly inventory team spent one year (June 2012 to May 2013) for digital recording and data collection to cover eight districts — Gazipur, Narsingdi, Comilla, Manikganj, Kishoreganj, Narayangaj, Panchagarh and Bandarban (only Lama Upazilla).
The team comprises Mirza Shamim, Ahasan Habib, M Shahtabul Islam, Avra Bhattacharjee, Kazi Farhed Iqbal, M Monowar Mahmud Jewel, Sikder Nizamul Haque, Saifuddin Saif and Maruful Alam Chowdhury.
The exhibition will remain open for all from November 8:14 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm daily.
