Mohammad Fahad Rahman became the youngest FIDE Master of the country after the World Chess Federation declared the 10-year-old chess player as a FIDE Master on Thursday.
Fahad is the 13th Bangladeshi to achieve the FIDE Master title after his remarkable performance in the 14th ASEAN Age-group Chess Championships which was held in Chiangmai, Thailand, in June where Fahad fulfilled the criteria to become the FM after winning the title.
‘I was expecting that I could become the FIDE Master soon. I’m very excited to achieve it. Now my target is to become a Grand Master,’ Fahad told over the phone.
After the National Junior Championship, Fahad caught the attention first time by beating Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman in a friendly duel in just eight minutes. When he was eight, Fahad was ranked as the top chess player in the world Under-8 chess rankings.
