The people became mesmerised with the beautiful rendering of some Lalon songs by noted singer Farida Parveen at a solo concert at the Music and Dance Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Sunday evening.
Farida Parveen presented songs of the legendary bard for two and half hours at the programme, which was organised by Lalon Research Foundation.
The artiste commenced her presentation with Paarey Loye Jao in her tuneful voice. The audience could feel the gracefulness of Farida Parveen’s voice and also realised how beautifully it fits the performance of Lalon numbers. The moving lyric and charming composition of the song that talks about gratefulness of God created a joyous yet sombre atmosphere in the auditorium.
The audiences became spell-bound when Farida Parveen rendered Manush Guru Nishtha Jar, one of the most admired songs of Fakir Lalon Shah, at the show. Even the singer herself got into a trance when performing the songs, which talks about the greatness of humanity above every worldly thing that divides human beings.
Farida Parveen, accompanied with acoustic instruments like harmonium, tabla, flute and ektaara, kept on entertaining the audiences throughout the show. She also talked about Lalon’s philosophy and her devotion to the legend in the intervals between songs.
The singer also presented many other songs of that bard including Khachar Bhitor Achin Pakhi, Jaat Gelo, Dhonno Dhonno Boli Taarey and others.
A good number of audience enjoyed the programme. ‘I had long waited to watch Farida Parveen’s concert and just rushed to Shilpakala when I heard about the show,’ Rahul Das, a government service holder from Tikatuli, told New Age.
‘I am greatly pleased with her performance and glad that I didn’t miss the show,’ said Shova Rani, a housewife.
