RAB held father of a rebel BDR jawan and recovered cash and valuables, looted from BDR headquarters during the mutiny, worth about Tk 10 lakh, from Chalitabari Uttar Para in Sadar upazila Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-12 raided Bidu Para village in Sadar upazila at about 8pm Tuesday in order to catch the rebel BDR jawan’s father and recover the looted valuables.
BDR jawan Abdur Rahman, son of Azizur Rahman Nannu Mia, 60, of Bidu Para took part in the mutiny at BDR headquarters in capital, said RAB.
Sensing the presence of the elite force, Nannu Mia secretly fled the village and put the looted goods under earth at nearby Chalitabari Uttar Para. The elite force, however, held Nannu Mia from the village at about 4am Wednesday.
Following his confession, the elite force recovered Tk 3 lakh, 20 totals of gold ornaments, one cell phone set, one wristwatch from under earth at a paddy field of Chalitabari Uttar Para at about 8am Wednesday.
Talking to local journalists, Nannu Mia said that his son gave him a bag containing these valuables at a residence at capital’s Hazaribagh Thursday.
Nannu said his son remained untraced since handing over the goods.
